We performed our 5 songs on Wednesday which marked the end of what has been the best course I have ever taken in my life. I have been inspired and now know what I want to work with in my future career as a teacher. I want to help integrate music into other subjects, particularly maths and english and I believe that I now have something to offer the swedish teachers at The English School (my future workplace).
My goal is to now build up a good number of songs that have a pedagogical reason for me using them in a classroom setting. An example I thought of today, whilst dancing with my wonderful twins was the song "Going to the Zoo". Here is a part of the text:
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're goin' to the zoo, zoo, zoo.
Well we stayed all day and we're gettin' sleepy
Sittin' in the car gettin' sleep sleep sleepy
Home already gettin' sleep sleep sleepy
'Cause we have stayed all day.
We've been to the zoo, zoo, zoo
So have you, you, you
You came too, too, too
We've been to the zoo, zoo, zoo.
This song uses the progressive/continuos verb tense of "ing" but then at the end of the song the past tense is used. Learning this song will give my pupils a deeper grammatical understanding of English whilst having lots of fun. I just cannot wait to try it out :)
I listen to music in a different way now. I am constantly googling the chords of my favorite songs and having a go at them. I have enrolled on an acoustic guitar course and cannot wait to for that to start in February.
Since my twins have been born they have been my life. We had one of the worst starts imaginable and the pain we have been through as a family runs deep even though I know we are so blessed. I have always loved listening to music but that is NOTHING compared to really creating music. My journey began in September and does not stop here. This is only the beginning and I am so excited :)!
